Palantir CEO Alex Karp skewered short sellers — investors who bet on the decline in a company's stock price — in an interview with CNBC on Wednesday. "I love burning the short sellers," Karp told CNBC's Sara Eisen on "Money Movers." "Almost nothing makes a human happier than taking the lines of cocaine away from these short sellers, who like, are going short on a truly great American company. Not just ours, but just love pulling down great American companies so they can pay for their coke." When a stock goes up, short sellers are on the hook to buy back shares, potentially at a huge loss.

The new M3 chip allows users to add up to two external displays, an improvement from a single screen supported by earlier chips. It called the new MacBook Air the "world's best consumer laptop for AI." The 13-inch MacBook Air starts at $1,099, while the 15-inch starts at $1,299.

The future for Apple's Vision Pro looks promising despite Wall Street's muted enthusiasm. Wall Street doesn't expect the Vision Pro to drive a ton of revenue at first though. Bank of America estimates the Vision Pro could add 46 cents per share to earnings-per-share (EPS) within the next five years. "We tested the Vision Pro and walked away positively from the overall extremely unique and immersive experience," BofA analysts wrote in a Monday research note. While it'll take time, the Vision Pro has the potential to boost sales and earnings in the future.

Shares of iRobot , the maker of Roomba vacuums, closed up about 39% Friday after a report said the European Union is set to approve Amazon's $1.7 billion acquisition of the company. Reuters said Thursday morning the deal is set to "win unconditional EU antitrust approval," citing three sources familiar with the matter. The European Commission is expected to rule on the deal by Feb. 14. Representatives from the European Commission didn't immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment. The acquisition marks Amazon's fourth-largest deal, behind its $13.7 billion purchase of grocery chain Whole Foods in 2017, its $8.45 billion purchase of film studio MGM in 2021 and its $3.9 billion acquisition of boutique primary-care provider One Medical, announced last July.

Last year, Apple announced new iPhones, Apple Watches, and updated AirPods at its September event. Here's what to expect from this year's edition:iPhone 15: USB-C and titaniumApple's invite to its Sept. 12 event. This year, the biggest change is expected to be a USB-C charging port, replacing Apple's proprietary Lightning port, which was introduced in 2012 as the iPhone charger "for the next decade." A USB-C charging port on iPhones will match the same charging port on Android phones, newer laptops, iPads, wireless headphones, and other gadgets. The change is being spurred by new European regulations which require a common charging port.

Google recently updated Google Flights with more information that can help you save money by booking a trip during certain windows of time. Say, for example, you're planning a family vacation to Florida in the winter and want to book your flights. Google will tell you whether prices are lower or higher than average right now, as well as when to book the flight to secure the best deal. Google said the prices are lower than usual, about $58 round trip on Frontier Airlines. Google said the price, about $282, was typical, but that prices would likely go down if I could wait to book the flight between Nov. 11 and Feb. 9.

Google has set Oct. 4 as the date for its annual fall hardware event, where the company is likely to introduce the next Pixel phone and its latest watch. Check out this $1,000 TV that hides in its own suitcase

I've been covering gadgets for 15 years and here's something I haven't seen: a TV that you carry around in its own suitcase. It just sits in its suitcase and you pop it open to view it. LG is now taking preorders for the TV, called the StanbyME Go. It costs $1,000 and ships starting Aug. 28. It has a 27-inch 1080p screen, which isn't as sharp as the 4K screens you can now get on far cheaper sets.

If your iPhone battery life seems like it's getting worse, that's because it is. A battery replacement is free if you have AppleCare+, which costs between $3.99 and $13.49 per month depending on the iPhone model you have. That means I can't get Apple's free battery replacement through the AppleCare+ plan that I pay for. But it explains why my battery life seems like it's gotten worse. It's a quick and relatively affordable way to improve your iPhone battery life, particularly if you don't otherwise need a new phone.

How to change your default credit card in Apple Wallet

I rarely, if ever, pull out a debit or credit card to make a payment anymore — maybe at a restaurant. But, in that quick motion — hovering your card over a payment terminal — your iPhone will automatically charge the default card that pops up on your phone. That meant he also had to replace the default card in his Apple Wallet. That's easy to do, but the option to select a default card is kind of buried. Scroll down to "Default Card" under the "Transaction Defaults" section.

When you take an Uber ride, you get to rate your driver — but your driver also gets to rate you as a rider. You may already know how to view your average Uber rating as a rider. You can see exactly how many one-star, two-star, three-star, four-star and five-star reviews drivers have given you. So, I was surprised to see I'd received six one-star ratings on the app. Having 21 four-star ratings was also a bit surprising, especially since I try to give drivers five stars all the time.

Google on Wednesday rolled out technology called passkeys, which will let users access the company's services without entering a password each time. Google said in a blog post that passkeys are more secure than passwords because people can't obtain them through phishing attacks, whereas you might accidentally give someone your password. The launch comes after Google, Microsoft and Apple last year committed to supporting new security standards that remove the need for a password. "When you add a passkey to your Google Account, we will start asking for it when you sign in or perform sensitive actions on your account. If you lose a device, you can remove the passkey from your Google account settings.
Apple CEO Tim Cook presents the new iPhone 14 at an Apple event at their headquarters in Cupertino, California, U.S. September 7, 2022. Top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a blog post on Friday that Apple plans to release "low-end" and "high-end" second-generation augmented reality/mixed reality headsets in 2025. Apple has not yet announced or even acknowledged the existence of plans to launch a virtual reality headset. The first model is expected to cost about $3,000 according to Bloomberg, which means Kuo's report of a future "low-end" model could signal that a more affordable version is on the way. It sells, for example, the high-end Apple Watch Ultra but also more affordable Apple Watch and Apple Watch SE series devices.
